Volunteer in Peru with Projects Abroad and address specific needs in local communities. You can contribute to long-term goals.
You can support early childhood development at understaffed childcare centers or help local teachers improve their English. Or, help us uncover the past on our Incan and Wari Archaeology Project. You can also discover your wild side by helping with conservation efforts in the heart of the amazing Amazon Rainforest like well-known veterinarian, Dr Evan Antin, did on an episode of the Animal Planet series, 'Evan Goes Wild'.
Most of our projects are based in Cuzco, but we also have a have a Conservation Project in the jungle. Our full-time staff in Peru are there to support you 24/7 if you need it, wherever you’re based.
There is a lot to see and do in your free time. You can visit the amazing Machu Picchu and soak in hot springs. Make the most of your trip and do as much as possible.

Where we are based in Peru
All of our Peru volunteer opportunities, except for Conservation, are based in Cuzco. Our Conservation Project is further away near the town of Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Rainforest.
Cusco
Cuzco is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. It was once the capital of the ancient Incan Empire. Today Cuzco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with archaeological remains and beautiful Spanish colonial architecture. It’s situated in the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range.
Peru is famous for its food. You can enjoy different dishes like the national dish, ceviche (raw fish cured in citrus juices and spiced with chili peppers). You’ll get plenty of time to explore the city. Walk down cobblestoned streets, or take a hike in the city’s surrounding lush green mountains. And no visit to Peru is complete without visiting the incredible Machu Picchu.
Puerto Maldonado
Our Rainforest Conservation Project is located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, at the Taricaya Ecological Reserve. The closest town is Puerto Maldonado, and Taricaya is a one-hour boat trip down the Madre de Dios River.
You’ll be surrounded by vast jungles filled with wildlife. Picture yourself waking up every morning to the sounds of the rainforest, listening to monkeys jumping from tree to tree. You’ll get to experience the beauty of the rainforest from the highest canopy walkway in South America.
